The first Swiss settlers gravitated to Gruetli-Laager, Grundy County, TN, attracted by it's similarity to the climate and agricultural conditions of the homes they left behind in Switzerland. The celebration seeks to provide a flavor of what life was like for the early settlers on this 33-acre farm on the plateau. Homesteaded in 1870, the farm still has the original resident, frame corn crib, sweet potato house, and other vintage farm buildings
