Ed Brand, a member of the Swiss Center's Board of Directors, helped the Swiss Embassy in Washington, D.C. ensure an appropriate Swiss flavor at the 2012 Prevent Cancer Spring Gala in which Ambassador Manuel Sager and his wife Christine were honorary patrons March 9, 2012.

Ed performs alphorn and is also a member of the Jodel Club New Glarus, and New Glarus Maennerchor.

The Graphic Arts of Hans Erni
Swiss Center CEO Beth Zurbuchen joined several hundred others as Margrit Young-Zellweger, Honorary Consul of Switzerland, opened the exhibit of The Graphic Art of Hans Erni in Houston, Texas February 23, 2012.

The opening was in honor of Erni's 103rd birthday on February 21st. Ernie still works in his Lucerne studio every day.

The show consists of 40 large scale posters dating from WWII to the present, representing the first major retrospective of Erni's work to be presented in the United States.

You can see his work at the Museum of Printing History at 1324 W. Clay Street in Houston.

Volkfest
Each year, in tribute to the traditions brought by Swiss settlers in 1845, New Glarus residents celebrate Swiss Independence Day - the birth of the Swiss nation on August 1, 1291.
